Trixie360 Interview

Ok, please can we have a warm welcome for avery special interview on whagi.com. No other than the lovely Trixie herself. Please note that Trixie has not answered some of the questions, I fully respect her decision to keep her private life and personal feelings separate in this instance. Lets see what this lady has to say:

Please tell us a little about yourself, and do not hold back with the nitty gritty details?

I’m the Community Editor at Xbox.com. I also founded and manage the Xbox Ambassador and Xbox GamerchiX programs.

Please explain your choice of Gamertag, and do you still think it is a good tag to have?

I chose my gamertag because I am known as TriXie in the Xbox community, and when the Xbox 360 was about to launch I wanted to put ‘360’ in my gamertag.

Can you explain a bit about your day to day role and what it involves within the Xbox 360 forums and being a Moderator? Please include both the ups and downs if you can, and how has it affected you as part of the forum community and in your everyday life.

I’m not a moderator. I have administrative permission to the Xbox.com forums, which allow me to create forums, edit posts, ban users, and assign forum icons. As I said, I’m the Community Editor, and forums and community go hand-in-hand. I leave the moderating to our wonderful mods and MVPs.

Your job must be quite difficult at times. How do you manage to maintain a healthy equilibrium within the forums, to what is ok and what is not?

I have a pretty high tolerance for colourful language. Some of the moderators are much more strict; but I believe that since Xbox.com is all about video games, there should be some leeway. Having said that, if I see sexist or racist language, I will not hesitate to ban someone for a long time. I also have no patience for people who mistreat, attack and insult others. Just last week, I booted an Ambassador from the program because he’d called another member a ‘retard’.

How do you keep a balance between reality and unreality? I.e. your everyday life and your time you spend on your 360 and the forums.

I don’t spend that much time browsing the forums, it’s too easy to get sucked in, and I do have a very demanding job outside the forums. I do however check My Forums several times a day to see how the response is on things I’ve posted for the community. I also spend a fair amount of time in the GamerchiX forum, but I’m not doing any moderating there.

Within the Xbox360 and forum community, where do you see yourself? How do you think others perceive you within the community?

I still get a lot of grief simply because I’m a female. People feel it’s okay to comment on my appearance…whereas I don’t see that anyone cares what Major Nelson looks like. People that only hang out in the forums seem to think I’m a moderator and have no idea what I do at Xbox.

Looking at the current Xbox 360 forums, what do you think could be added or changed to make them a much more pleasant and helpful place to visit? Please compare both the UK and US forums if you wish.

My experience with the UK forum is that it’s ten times better than the US. People are much more polite and respectful. Seriously, UK forum members are all Cary Grant compared to the majority of US members.

Are there any people that stand out across the whole Xbox 360 community that you think deserves a mention and if so, why?

I think about 80% of the Xbox Ambassadors do a great job. They volunteer their time and get nothing in return. So I think they deserve a mention for their community spirit.

Do you use your Xbox360 often and if so how often? Please include any usage, games, music or other.

I use it every day. I play Zuma and watch movies. Soon I will be playing a lot of Luxor 2.

Thank you for taking part in the whagi.com interviews. I’m sure everyone will find this interview both informative and funny at the same time, many thanks.
